What do you do at Safeture?
I work as a Senior Analyst at Safeture’s office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I joined the company in May 2016. My daily tasks involve compiling alerts for clients, producing analyses on security risk, and supporting the marketing team with material, such as the monthly previews. Since I am the office manager, I also take care of certain administrative aspects of the Malaysian office.
What are you the most passionate about when it comes to your work?
I believe the work I am doing here perfectly matches my interest and earlier studies. I enjoy writing, politics, and current affairs, and I am literally juxtaposing them at Safeture every day. No doubt, the big chunk of my work here demands speed and accuracy as the alerts are being used for risk assessment, but it is also rewarding to know that they made an impact for someone, somewhere in the world. Providing the right information for the clients is perhaps the biggest driving force when it comes to my work. I love that we have like a newsroom vibe, minus the chaos, which is a perfect balance for me!
What advice would you give yourself five years ago?
Prior to joining Safeture in 2016, I was probably still in the exploratory phase regarding my career path. In that sense, I was still searching for a path that could fulfill my passion and it took me at least two years to finally find the answer here at Safeture. For those who are just starting their career, my advice is that one should be a bit more adventurous. Your first, second, or even third job might not be the one that you want, but use it as a stepping stone to get to know yourself better, and eventually, you will be able to identify a career path that suits you the best.
Favorite thing to do when you are not working?
I spend a lot of my time on my scale model town. Since these miniatures are pretty fine and fragile, I can spend a whole Sunday just doing that at times. Other than that, I also enjoy reading, mostly about politics and philosophy. Prior to the Covid lockdown, a visit to the cinema and a cup of coffee or with my friends also top the to-do list on my off days or the weekend.
Something not many people might know about you?
I think people have the impression that I am a very organized person and perhaps hate last-minute plans. But hey, if there is something fun, just hit me a message, I am all ready to go!
